Wow, another newsletter? Wasn’t there just one in April?
Yeah, but there are some exciting things to mention before they’re old news; mostly opportunities to see some of my work featured in a couple galleries in Boston and New Hampshire. I also have an official studio now! I’ll cover all that stuff down below, but first, photographs!
The Kodak Brownie
My uncle recently gave me a Kodak Brownie box camera that his dad used years ago. These cameras are as simple as it gets - basically just a light-tight box with one shutter speed and two aperture settings. This one is over 70 years old, has some lens fungus, and has no working viewfinders, but it was still a fun challenge to point it at things and get some images from it.
Spring Miscellany
Recently Featured Works & Shameless Plugs:
Panopticon Gallery’s show ‘Film Is Not Dead’ is up until the end of June. If you find yourself in the vicinity of Fenway, check it out. It’s an incredible show, and includes a huge print of this gross inflatable pool at a bluegrass festival. Definitely worth your time.
The Katzman Contemporary Projects gallery in Dover, NH has their Big Print Show up until June 23rd. You’ll find a few of my prints there among a diverse range of mediums by artists from all over New England.
I now have a proper studio! Starting in July, I’ll be a member of The Art Center in Dover. It’ll double as a workspace as well as a personal gallery, so you can go in pretty much whenever you want and see/buy/scoff at my work. You may even run into me when I’m there!
My shop is chock-full of magazines, prints, and more waiting to be whisked away by your hard-earned money. Or by a barter of some kind. Let’s talk.
And finally, if you know someone that might be interested in this newsletter, please send it their way!
